A Midwestern native who has called New
York home for more than a decade, Amy's career began in Chicago, where she started out on radio. After working on air at WLS and WJMK, she made the transition to television by producing and hosting a live New Year's Eve Special for Fox Chicago called Radio's Top Videos. In 1987, she was hired as the Fox Entertainment Reporter where she created the popular segment What's the Buzz? Her interest in the music scene allowed her to cover the early careers of artists like Smashing Pumpkins, Liz Phair and Urge Overkill as well as every national artist passing through the city. She also broadcast live from events including the Grammy Awards and Woodstock '94 for affiliates across the country.
In 1995 Amy was offered the Music News Anchor slot for the re-launch of VH1. She was a main anchor of events including VH1 Honors, Live at the Grammys, and The VH1 Fashion Awards pre and post shows. She also hosted the live performance show Crossroads, which featured artists like Jewel, Blues Traveler, and KD Lang, and traveled the country with major rock tours for VH1's Rock Across America.
In 1997, CNN tapped Amy to become a correspondent on Newsstand where she co-produced and conducted in depth interviews for long form pieces on artists like Jon Stewart and Lyle Lovett. During this time she also freelanced for Fox News Network as a correspondent. In 2004, Amy returned to the VH1 family as a host on VH1 Classic. |
